We feature the Vitalize Peel, which is a strong, but gentle formulation of alpha and beta hydroxy acids, retinoic acid, resorcinal and other active cosmeceutical ingredients. This provides a complete, consistent and safe peel with no patient downtime and predictable results for all skin types. The peel improves texture and tone and reduces fine lines, resulting in a healthier, more youthful appearance. The Vitalize Peel has also been clinically proven to help pigmentation problems fade (such as age spots) and stimulate collagen production. We also offer the Rejuvenize Peel, Illuminize Peel and a Glycolic Peel. click here for more info on Rejuvenize, Illuminize & Glycolic Peels
How does it work?
The peel exfoliates the top layers of the epidermis leaving a healthier, smoother and more evenly pigmented layer of skin. It also increases epidermal thickening and stimulates collagen production.
Is the treatment safe?
When performed by a physician or trained personnel under a qualified physician’s supervision the Vitalize Peel is a safe procedure. During your consultation, we will go through your medical history to make sure you are a good candidate. There are some patients who are not good candidates for the Vitalize Peel including: patients with a history of allergies, rashes or other skin reactions, allergy to salicylates (i.e. aspirin), patients who have taken Accutane within the past year or received chemotherapy or radiation therapy, pregnant or lactating women and patients under the age of 12.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my treatment?
For best results, it is advisable to avoid sun exposure and the following products and procedures at least one week prior to your treatment: electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, any exfoliating products, shaving of the area to be peeled and any products that may be drying or irritating (such as products containing salicylic acid, glycolic acids, alpha hydroxy acids, Vitamin A and retinol).
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes.
What should I do after my peel?
You may be more sensitive to sun exposure. We recommend limiting sun exposure for at least one week after your peel and using sunscreen with an SPF 20 or higher. Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 to 3 days as perspiration may irritate the skin. Your skin may look and feel like you have a mild windburn for two to three days prior to peeling. When washing your face, do not scrub. Use a gentle cleanser. Avoid “helping” the skin to peel. You can control the peeling with a light moisturizer. For your convenience, we offer the aftercare products you will need (we have a full line of pharmaceutical-grade skin care products for every skin type – please go to “Skin Care Products” for more information). Do not have any other facial treatment for at least one week after your peel. You may resume the regular use of Retinols, alpha-hydroxy acid products, Vitamin C or bleaching creams only after the peeling process is complete.
How many peels will I need?
Although you may see improvement after one peel, 3 to 6 treatments are generally required to achieve optimal results. The Vitalize Peel is gentle enough to have in three week intervals. |
