There are many people who might want a neck lift to revitalize their face and restore a more youthful appearance to their neck and jawline. This could be due to losing a considerable amount of weight and wanting your neck and lower facial area to match the rest of your body, hereditary predisposition, or just through the natural process of aging. However, the potential risks and complications of a traditional surgical face or neck lift might be off-putting and be preventing you from living your best life. That’s why we are excited to offer the Precision Tx procedure.
Precision Tx is a minimally invasive, surgical procedure that uses laser energy to tighten and thicken the skin underlying your neck and chin. Thanks to the advanced SideLaze technology, this makes for a great alternative to a traditional neck lift. Our doctor will make three very small incisions, one under each earlobe and a third under the chin. These allow for the laser to be inserted to heat and kill the fat cells in a more precise and efficient way than previous technology. The best part is that the incisions will not leave a very noticeable scar as each one is less than 1 cm in size. The heat from the laser will also cause tissue coagulation which will then create a tightening effect on the dermal and epidermal layers above. A final benefit of the laser energy is that it will stimulate the production of new collagen in the treatment area, and the results from this will continue to improve for up to twelve months after the procedure.
If you are considering a face or neck lift and are hesitant about the risks associated with a traditional surgery, we recommend Precision Tx. With summer around the corner, it’s time to put your best face forward. Feel free to schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our medical providers today to see if you would be a good fit for Precision Tx.
Men and women of all ages can experience skin discoloration whether due to having an uneven complexion, spending a little too much time in the sun, or the natural process of aging. There are many laser treatments in today’s market that offer to reduce signs of sun damage and other cases of hyperpigmentation. Most of these options result in unwanted side effects that might increase the appearance of pigmented lesions, or even result in certain infections. Of the treatments offered, there is one that stands above the others. PICO GenesisTM uses a brand new treatment style to both reduce the sight of benign pigmented lesions and also revitalize the skin.
PICO GenesisTM is an inclusive approach that can be used for people of all skin types and tones. This method uses two highly effective wavelengths of laser energy to deliver short and fast pulses to cause an intense, yet non-thermal disruption to shatter the pigmented lesions on the skin’s surface. After this happens, the laser induced shockwave will then allow for remodeling in order to create a brighter, more uniform complexion. Patients can generally see optimal results in as little as one to two treatments with PICO GenesisTM.
Older variations of lasers that sought to treat hyperpigmentation used thermal lasers. The heat energy from these lasers has the risk of damaging surrounding tissue, rather than solely treating the desired areas. As a result, these lasers could cause redness, swelling, and itching. PICO GenesisTM, on the other hand, allows for a more focused target for the laser because it does not use thermal energy. In addition to the reduced risks to your skin, PICO GenesisTM results in considerably less downtime than other lasers. Our treatment takes approximately twenty minutes and is virtually pain-free, which allows our patients to bounce back and resume their daily activities right away.
If you suffer from hyperpigmentation and are tired of constantly getting facials or peels that don’t work, we recommend PICO GenesisTM. Feel free to schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our medical providers today to see if you would be a good fit for PICO GenesisTM.
Vaginal rejuvenation is a procedure developed to restore comfort as well as a youthful nature and appearance to the vaginal area. Over time, vaginal tissue can stretch and lose tone and elasticity as a result of vaginal childbirth, the natural process of aging, and also certain cancer therapies. This change in vaginal tissue often causes other uncomfortable symptoms such as burning, itching, and dryness of the vaginal canal, as well as pain during intercourse. Looser vaginal tissue can also result in leakage of urine when sneezing, coughing, laughing or exercising.
In addition to improved genital comfort, women might also seek a vaginal rejuvenation treatment in order to enhance their sexual functioning and satisfaction as well as the cosmetic appearance of the vagina and exterior vulvar area. This procedure can also be performed to enhance a woman’s confidence in her feminine health. Clearly the desire for improved vaginal health can affect a wide range of women for various reasons, yet it is still an unmet gynecological need in women’s health.
This is where the Juliet® laser treatment comes in. At our Bloomfield office, we are excited to offer this minimally invasive laser treatment to address a woman’s vaginal needs. The Juliet® uses a small disposable hand piece to deliver two passes of laser energy directly to the area of concern. The first pass is used to vaporize existing mucosal tissue while stimulating production of collagen and elastin. The second pass of energy will then remodel the damaged tissue using the newly formed collagen to revitalize the vaginal tissue. This will in turn improve its tone, shape, and flexibility as well as the vascularization of the vaginal canal.
The technology used in Juliet® allows for a concentrated delivery of laser energy so only the targeted area will be treated. This results in a more effective outcome and higher patient satisfaction with the treatment. Patients also report a minimal downtime after receiving a treatment. Compared to other laser procedures offered for vaginal rejuvenation, patients can typically see results after just one treatment of the Juliet®. We recommend you get a second treatment at least four weeks after your initial appointment. After this, it is typically required to get a follow up treatment once every twelve months in order to maintain your results; however this can vary on an individual basis.
If this is something you would be interested in, we suggest you take a look at our website for more information. Please feel free to set up a complimentary consultation with one of our medical providers today to see if you would be a good fit for the Juliet® laser treatment.

TruSculpt® 3D was recently introduced to the market and is the latest FDA approved approach to non-invasive fat removal and body sculpting. TruSculpt® 3D differs from Coolsculpting (a widespread approach that has been around for several years) in the following ways:
- Desired results are usually achieved and the skin tightened in only one truSculpt® 3D treatment. Coolsculpting requires several treatments that are up to three times longer in duration and does not simultaneously tighten the skin.
- TruSculpt® 3D uses a proprietary radio frequency (RF) technology featuring a closed-loop temperature feedback mechanism that allows targeted, repeatable, and uniform heating of the subcutaneous fat layer while maintaining lower average surface temperatures. The hand piece glides over the skin allowing treatment of a larger surface area while delivering energy to deeper levels. Coolsculpting requires physically “pinching” or “pulling” the skin into a suction-like device in order to freeze the fat underneath it. This requires enough fat/skin in the treatment area for the device to be able to latch on (which can be an issue with removing smaller amounts of fat). Many patients find the pulling and freezing sensation to be uncomfortable.
- TruSculpt® 3D can treat a wider range of areas in the body than Coolsculpting because the hand piece can be adjusted accordingly.
Both truSculpt® 3D and Coolsculpting achieve the same objective in that they destroy fat cells in a non-invasive fashion after which the cells are broken down and disposed of by the body over several weeks. Though the approaches differ, they are both effective ways of reducing fat.
Summer is right around the corner, and with that comes warm weather clothing like shorts and dresses that bare more skin than you’re used to in the winter months. The last thing you want to worry about is shaving and waxing when you should be planning your next beach trip. Luckily, there’s a way to eliminate the need for shaving, waxing, and other repeated hair removal methods. Laser hair removal is an effective way of destroying hair in the follicle to minimize and even eliminate regrowth.
Laser hair removal works by attacking the melanin found in the actively growing hair. The laser uses light that is attracted to the melanin to vaporize it. This process acts on hair that is in the active growth phase. This is why multiple treatments are recommended to ensure all follicles are treated throughout the course of the process. If you don’t want to completely remove all hair, laser hair removal in fewer treatments can lessen the amount of hair in the treatment area.
During the treatment, a slight stinging or pinching sensation may be felt, however the feeling is mild. If your pain tolerance is low, local anesthetics can be applied to the treatment area to increase your tolerance to the procedure.
So if pesky body hair is something that bothers you, start your treatments early so by the time summer hits you won’t need to worry about the hassle of hair removal!
If you’ve gotten a tattoo that you regret or no longer like, you might be wondering the best way to get rid of it. With the latest technologies, such as the Enlighten laser by Cutera which combines dual wavelengths of Pico and Nano Second pulse speeds, tattoos of any color can be completely and safely removed from any skin type or tone. The number of treatments that is necessary to remove the tattoo may vary on a case by case basis which is due to variation in type, depth and colors of ink involved. Your medical provider would be able to determine this during your consultation. However, significantly fewer treatments will be required with the Cutera Enlighten than with traditional q-switched technology. Tattoos that have been previously treated without successful removal or lightening can be removed as well. This is because with multiple wavelengths and pulse speeds to work with, up to 3 times the energy with 1064 nm and 1.5 times the energy with 532 nm, and the broadest range of fluence and spot- size collection, the optimal treatment protocol for each patient can be customized. Our medical providers can effectively and efficiently deal with any ink color and particle size at any depth and skin type. Optimal results are achieved due to the ability to use multiple settings within the same tattoo for complete lightening or removal of the tattoo.
If you’ve turned on a television within the past couple of months you may have noticed a commercial for an injection that claims to dissolve, and thus remove, fat from underneath the chin. This may seem like a hoax to some, but the new drug that is doing just that is Kybella.
Kybella became the first U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved injectable treatment for submental, or under the chin, fat on April 29, 2015. The active ingredient in Kybella is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. This naturally occurring acid helps destroy fat cells in the body. Kybella works by targeting those cells, and the body absorbs the destroyed cells, reducing the appearance of your “double chin”.
Ideal candidates have what looks like a pouch of fat underneath their chin. Sometimes this fat is hard to get rid of with exercise and diet alone, and this can be in part due to genetics. People in this situation could be an ideal candidate, but a consultation with a medical provider is necessary to fully confirm that.
Depending on the severity of the “double chin”, a skilled medical provider will determine how many treatments each individual should receive. Patients generally see results after two to four treatments; however, a patient cannot exceed six Kybella treatments. Treatments are spaced no less than a month apart and during each treatment the provider injects the drug multiple times in different spots under the chin. Patients have expressed a slight discomfort upon the injection and soreness afterwards that can be alleviated by icing the area after treatment.
After the ideal amount of treatments has been completed, and the optimal results are achieved, no other treatments should be necessary. This is because the fat is destroyed in that area. As long as patients actively maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly, the results should be long lasting.

Botox has gotten so much publicity that just about everyone has heard about it, however, many people still shy away from it because of negative misconceptions. Botox is a neurotoxin that helps weaken muscles within the injection site for 3 to 6 months. This makes Botox an extremely effective way to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause them. Despite the positive reviews that Botox is getting from medical providers and news outlets, there are still many people who are fearful of it. Following are some of the most common myths and misconceptions about Botox and corresponding clarification.
Myth #1: Botox is only for cosmetic purposes
Most people associate the injection solely with cosmetic purposes. Botox has been proven to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but this is not the only benefit of the injection. Botox also treats conditions such as chronic migraines, excessive underarm sweating, and overactive bladder. These medical benefits have been receiving more media coverage recently.
Myth #2: Botox is dangerous
Many people associate Botox with botulism because it is commonly caused by contaminated food with botulinum toxin. Although this toxin is the same, Botox uses a purified version in extremely low doses that make it impossible for the toxin to manifest in the type of food poisoning associated with botulism. As long as you are being injected by a trained medical provider who is certified to inject it, Botox is safe.
Myth #3: Botox leaves you with an expressionless face
If Botox is injected into the skin by a trained and skilled provider, the provider is able to localize exactly where the injection is needed to only target the area that needs it. Areas that have not been treated will remain the same, and you will be able to express any emotions you normally do. Having Botox injected by a skilled provider will give you the best results and avoid an overdone appearance that TV shows and movies poke fun at for appearing too “fake”.
If you are ever uncertain about any procedure or injection speak with your medical provider and voice your concerns. They will be able to answer any questions you have prior to committing to something you are unsure about. So next time you hear people worrying about Botox, assure them that these myths are in fact myths and Botox is safe and rewarding!

“New Year, New Me” is a motto that many people follow once January rolls around. It’s not uncommon for people to start taking initiative about their appearance after the New Year begins. Although some people take the exercise and dieting route, others opt for surgical routes to help manage the problem areas that the gym can’t quite fix. One of these surgical options, Smartlipo, is a minimally invasive, in office procedure, that liquefies and removes stubborn fat.
Smartlipo Triplex is a type of laser assisted liposuction that generates laser energy through thin fibers to liquefy fat which is then removed through a cannula. The thin fiber is inserted beneath the skin through the small incision sites. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area making the procedure comfortable; however, most patients feel a pressure sensation which stops once the fat is liquefied by the laser. Smartlipo is meant to remove fat, not as a weight loss tactic.
After the procedure is completed patients are instructed to wear a compression garment on the treated area for the first 48 and 12 hours daily for the following three to four weeks. The purpose of this garment is to help facilitate lymphatic drainage from the treated area. It is recommended that the area is also gently massaged to help reduce swelling. The small incisions made will heal and will become barely noticeable over time. Patients may feel numbness or increased sensitivity in the treated area for up to four months. Patients may also experience hard nodules of fat under the skin which will slowly resolve as the body reabsorbs the fat. The best way to expedite this is to massage the area.
Results will be noticeable immediately, but swelling will be present and will slowly resolve over the next three to four weeks. After the swelling subsides, patients will continue to see results and improvements over time, but full results will take up to a year. Return to daily activities should be gradual and as tolerated because some soreness, swelling, and sensitivity may occur.
One of the most important things to remember as the body is healing as well as after results are achieved is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Just like people who achieve a muscular physique, if these people discontinue their gym regimens, they will lose the muscle tone that they worked so hard for. The same can be said with people who undergo Smartlipo. If you don’t eat properly and neglect to stay active, the fat cells left behind can expand, causing weight gain which will diminish the results that your body has achieved with Smartlipo.
So if you do want a new you in the New Year, consider Smartlipo!
